He came humbly, helplessly,
Sanctity stirring in the stable,
Holiness meeting humanity.
Salvation greeting, sin retreating
Royalty reaching for his own.
Glory in his tender face,
Wonder in hers.
The divine descending, hope transcending.
Redemption’s reply to sin’s ageless lie.
Filled with power from on high, and yet powerless,
Newborn sounds as grace abounds,
Light lingers above tiny fingers
Clenched at her breast,
Holiness in his heart,
Trembling in hers,
As dawn breaks, here
Where Majesty and mortal are met.
